Mare d’Italia

The whole Riviera of Romagna is full of places and occasion to enjoy a great evening. Restaurants and bars, both indoor and outdoor, are ubiquitous.

Kids and families can have fun at arcades, mini-golf clubs, mini-karts of different kinds for kids age 3 and up, ice cream parlors and more. Most hotels feature dance shows, sometimes with free lessons of folk dances like waltzer, polka, mazurkas and latin dances, and there are several festivals and free public shows during summer in each neighborhood and village.

Many bagnos will organize night-time parties in summer, especially in August. If you’re spending your days at one bagno, ask the owner or your umbrella-neighbour. Most great evenings I spent in Cervia were at such parties. Everyone can go, most times they’re free, and sometimes they charge an admission fee for a buffet and free bar.

Disco-pubs and actual all-night discoes are very popular too. A short list appears below. Note that most discoes change their name and style each new season, so check a local bar or bagno for the latest trend and for discounted tickets. The entrance fee is usually around 10 euros, and it usually includes a free drink. Drinks at discoes are more expensive than in bars, and unlike in the US, IDs and age are almost never checked. An Italian disco gets crowded only around or after midnight, and usually closes between 3 and 4 am. If you drive to a disco, especially on weekend nights, please be extra careful and absolutely don’t drink and drive.
