Romagna is half of the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. Its territory spans the county (provinces) of Ravenna, Forli’-Cesena and Rimini. It roughly shaped as a triangle: the eastern side is the Adriatic Sea, with its low and sandy coast, from the pinewoods and flatlands below Ferrara, to the promontories of San Marino and Gradara; the mountain range of Appennini from north-west to south-east trace the border with Tuscany and Umbria. The highest point is Mount Fumaiolo (1500m, about 4900 feet), from which the Tevere river starts its long run down to Rome, and the Tirrenian Sea. The north-eastern part of Romagna is quite flat, while south-west it’s more hilly.

The Major towns, with the exception of Ravenna, are all along the Emily Way, the ancient Roman road that traverse the land from north-west to south-east, from Bologna to Rimini.
